1 Day trip to Catalina

I may be the only person but I for one didn't know this magical place was in California. Last month was Darren's birthday and I had plans to go to Glen Ivy Springs, however Corona was experiencing wild fires. So that plan went out the door, luckily the resort is still standing and we can have that experience another time. So last minute at the 10th hour I found the beautiful Catalina Island.

 Getting to the island

In order to get to the island you can take a Catalina Express from Dana Point, Long beach or San Pedro. All three take you to the city of Avalon on the island, and San Pedro is the only one that takes you to Two Harbors. Long Beach is only about a half hour from us so we woke up at 4am to catch the 5am ferry.
side note- knowing Darren and I we are always running late and almost missed the ferry but we made it,and it definitely felt like a episode of Amazing race.
Make sure to bring sea sickness medicine because the ride gets bumpy

THINGS TO DO

There is sooooo much to do on the island. So make sure to research before you go. I surprised Darren with an Electric Bike Tour of the island and it was the best decision ever. Everyone who goes to the island should do this. Very nice family owned business, the daughter Alision was our tour guide and she was amazing. We lucked out because the tour was suppose to have another couple but they didn't show so that's right we got a private tour of the island.

The tour was about 2 hours long, and it was beautiful, and the best thing is that the bikes are electric so if you get tired it's ok. We biked high in the mountains and saw amazing views. It was breathe taking.

there are lots of other tours you could take and activities to do on the island such as:
Ziplining
Scubba Diving
Snorkeling
Parasiling
Glass boat tour
Submarine tour
Bus Tour
Ocean Runner Dolphin Tour
Descanso Beach Club
and more

EATS

When we got to the island we had breakfast at Pancake Cottage. Very Large portions. We hardly eat because it was so early that we didn't have much of an appetite.
After our Amazing Bike tour Allision recommended Buffalo Nickel, where we also received a voucher for a free adult drink. We both ordered mexican food which was delicious. (interesting fact: 75 % of the island is Mexican)
before we got back on the ferry to head home Darren was craving something cold and refreshing. And on the walk back to the ferry we ran into SCOOPS! some of the best acia bowls, so refreshing and just what we needed.
